145 rubber, tire producers punished for illegal behaviors

The Environmental Protection Bureau of Huangdao District, Qingdao, Shandong province, launched an overall investigation over small rubber and tire producers that violated regulations and rules in the district.

It has registered and punished 145 enterprises so far, and 53 enterprises will need to pay heavy penalties, with the highest at 150,000 yuan.

An official with the environmental protection bureau said rubber and tire producers that haven’t been registered by relevant authorities, and lack or short of licenses are ordered to be closed down before deadline.

Producers of small-scale, with outdated capacity, close toresidential communities, and are polluting and disturbing will be cracked down.

So far, the bureau initiated 17 special actions this year to examine the producers’ environmental protection works.

It transferred 19 enterprises refusing to pay administrative penalties to the people’s court for compulsory execution, and moved over 30 rubber and tire producers to an industrial cluster.

Qingdao Doublestar Tire Industry Co., Ltd. has established a new green tire intelligent manufacturing base in Dongjiakou Economic Zone and is about to move there.

The new base has received an investment of over 250 million yuan, with 74 low temperature plasma odor removal facilities being installed.
