The global kick-off meeting on International Standards for Four RFID Tire Tags was held in July 11-14 in Brussels, Belgium.

The four standards were proposed by China, drafted by MESNAC and other organizations and unities from nine countries.

The standards had been submitted for approval in June 2015, and ISO officially recognized the standards as a program on Oct. 6, 2015 with a workgroup established. The Convener of the Workgroup is Ms. Dong Lanfei, engineer of Internet of Things BU in MESNAC; the Co-convener of the Workgroup is Mr. Pierre Loiret from Michelin.

Participants of the global kick-off meeting included 12 Chinese representatives and 12 representatives from France, Germany, U.S. and Italy.

The meeting received great support from ISO, TC31, Standardization Administration of China, ETRTO, and AFNOR.

The meeting was chaired by Ms. Dong, experts expressed their suggestions and opinions about the standards and reached an agreement.

The workgroup's second global meeting will be held in Dec. in Hainan, China.

By then, attendees will continue to discuss their suggestions and push the standards entering into the stage of commission draft from that of workgroup draft.

The four international standards are the first official ISO ones of China's tire industry as well as the first standards for electric tire products.

Drafting of the standards will accelerate the application of RFID technology in tires and boost the technical progress of tire industry.
