First Batch of Tire Labels Issued to 5 Producers

China Rubber Industry Association officially issued the first batch of Tire Labels of China to five companies on Oct. 21.

They are Shandong Fengyuan Tire Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Qingdao Doublestar Tire Industry Co., Ltd. and Shandong Doublestar Tire Co., Ltd. under Doublestar Group, as well as Double Coin Group (Jiangsu) Tire Co., Ltd. and Double Coin Group (Chongqing) Tire Co., Ltd. under Double Coin Tire Co., Ltd.

CRIA accepted the applications, commitments, and testing reports on tires’ rolling resistance, performance on wetland, and rolling noise provided by the tire producers. According to the Standard for Grading of Tire Products and the Management Rules for the Labeling of Tires, CRIA signed agreements with five companies on usage of tire labels and issued the labels.

The “label of tire” specifies the grades of tire’s rolling resistance, performance on wetland and noise, offering direct reference for consumers in buying tires. By scanning the two-dimensional code on the “label of tire”, consumers are capable of learning basic information of the producer, grade of tire, term of validity, and features of the tread.

According to Zhu Hong, head of the Technical and Economic Commission of CRIA, since the official implementation of Standard for Grading of Tire Products and the Management Rules for the Labeling of Tires on Sept. 15, online application and data management platform was available on the same day, and many companies have consulted about the issue. So far, more than 20 large domestic tire producers and foreign-funded tire producers have registered and applied for labeling their products.
