Beijing charges service fee on battery charging of electric vehicles

From June 1st, the service charge on battery charging of electric vehicles in Beijing will be price-limited managed by government. As introduced, the upper limit of the service fee per degree will be 15% of gasoline price on that day. The power cost of electric vehicles still has great advantage even adding service fee and electricity price, which is only 50% to 60% of same segment gasoline car.

In according to information, the service fee is mainly used to make up the operating cost of charging facilities. The service fee will be priced-limited managed by government until 2020, insuring the use-cost is much lower than gasoline (or gas) to strengthen the competitiveness of electric vehicles. From Jan. 1st, 2020, the service fee will be market-adjusted price.

As the explanation of government, the pricing of 15% of gasoline price aims to maintain the cost advantage of electric vehicles and government will investigate and treat on unlawful acts. Even adding service fee, the cost of electric vehicles still has great advantage over gasoline cars. The public charging facilities will be charged by the standard of commercial power. There will be 2,000 more new charging points within this year and charging facilities will be installed into gas stations.
