700,000 yellow label vehicles eliminated in China

By the end of this August, 695,500 yellow label vehicles registered before the end of 2005 had been eliminated in China, totaled 59.73% of Chinese government’s elimination target, MEP, the Chinese Ministry of Environmental Protection, said on September 29th .

In a bid to improve air quality, China has put high priority in the elimination of yellow label vehicles, which represent vehicles that fail to meet Chinese National III emission standard. The Chinese government proposed to “eliminate the yellow label vehicles registered before the end of 2005” in the Report on work of the Government 2015 and the State Council also stressed that the elimination of yellow label vehicles is a hard task in China this year that must be completed.

To date, China still needs to phase out around 490,000 yellow label vehicles nationwide while different provinces’ progresses differ greatly. In order to accelerate and supervise the elimination of yellow label vehicles, MEP requests that local governmentstake up responsibility and apply different measures to complete this task, and also report their work progress over this issue on a monthly basis.
