Sales of imported cars continue to fall in China

Recently, Nissan officially debuted its Patrol 2016 in China, followed by other new models in a bid to speed up Nissan’s promotion in China’s imported car market. The Japanese carmaker has adjusted the product positioning of the new Patrol and this large SUV will be available for Chinese buyers for as little as ¥798,000, according to Hao Chen, Vice-Minister in marketing and sales of Dongfeng Nissan.

Influenced by factors including the slowing down economic growth in China, the anti-corruption actions by Chinese government and domestically manufactures of imported vehicles, the imports of imported cars in China during the first half of 2015 totaled only 523,000 units, a 23.3% drop compared with last year.

“Prices still are one of the most important factors in the sales of imported cars.”confessed Chen. In a bid to attract more potential high-end buyers and fulfill the 1-million sales targetsin China, Dongfeng Nissan will adjust thepricing strategy for the imported models and provide more SUV models to meet the needs of arelativelyburgeoning SUV market, including large SUV Patrol, medium Crossover Murano, medium SUV X-Trail and compact SUV Qashqai.

Besides, the number of Chinese Nissan dealers who are authorized to sell imported models will reachto 729, increased form 121 by an astonishing 502%, according to the Dongfeng Nissan’s Strategy 2.0 for imported vehicles this year.
