The first C-NCAP crash tests of 2013 were announced by the China Automotive Technology and Research Center at the recently concluded Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, Beijing Business Today reported. Nine models were graded this time around. Five models–the Geely SC515, SAIC Rover MG5, Dongfeng Citroën C4L, Dongfeng Yueda Kia K3 and Beijing Hyundai Langdong–all managed to obtain five-star rankings. Meanwhile, the Tianjin FAW Xiali Weizhi V5 and Dongfeng Liuzhou Joyear only managed to garner ratings of two stars and three stars, respectively. FAW Xiali and Dongfeng Liuzhou will have to work harder to improve safety in their vehicles.

To date, a total of 193 models have been participated and been rated in the C-NCAP tests since their inception in 2006. 21 of those models have been graded according to the newly released 2012 crash test standards.
