New fuel consumption standards may challenge China’s tire industry

The new passenger vehicle fuel consumption limits, planned to implement from Jan.1 2016, will challenge China’s tire industry, said Huang Yonghe, chief expert in China Automotive Technology and Research Center, on “2015 Auto-Tire Cross-Sectoral Development Summit Forum” held by Tireworld.com.cn on Jan.23 2015.

Meanwhile, China will release new safe requirement standards on vehicle wheels this year to satisfy consumers’ demand on recreational vehicles, which will be another challenge on China’s tire industry, Huang also said.

To meet the requirements of high-speed, high power and braking reliability, tyre flattening has become a tendency in the automobile industry. Although one flatten tyre could only save 2%-3% energy consumption, it will be huge energy saving for the whole auto industry, Huang Yonghe said on the forum, energy saving technologies used in tyres would help auto industry finally reach the new passenger vehicle fuel consumption limits standards, which means more auto makers would prefer to choose energy-saving tyres after new standards implementing since Jan.1 2016.

It is the time for Chinese tire producers to prepare for the energy saving challenge from automobile industry now!
