Tokyo rubber slides on May 15

Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM) futures slid on Tuesday, along with Shanghai futures, amid growing concerns that demand for commodities would suffer from an escalation of Sino-US tariff war. The benchmark TOCOM rubber contract for October delivery finished lower 1.4 yen, or 0.7 percent, at 185.9 yen ($1.7) per kg. The most-active rubber contract on the Shanghai futures exchange for September delivery fell 270 yuan to finish at 11,540 yuan ($1,676) per tonne.

TOCOM's technically specified rubber (TSR) 20 futures contract for November delivery closed down 1.4 percent at 160.0 yen per kg. The front-month rubber contract on Singapore's SICOM exchange for June delivery last traded at 148.0 US cents per kg, down 1.0 percent.
