Shanghai rubber futures fall to break RMB14,500/t support

Rubber futures traded on the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) fell further on Friday (Aug. 29, 2014), breaking the gauge of 14,500 yuan per metric ton (tonne).

The most actively traded contract for January 2015 delivery ended at 14,490 yuan/metric yuan, down 185 yuan or 1.26 percent from the previous settlement.

The peak season for rubber tapping would further aggravate the imbalance of supply and demand for the commodity.

Analysts hold bearish outlook of rubber futures in the near term.
