Highlights of NEV makers at Auto China 2018

Auto China 2018 was much highlighted by NEV models. As the show is drawing to a close, China's auto portal Gasgoo today lists a number of eye-catching NEV makers and summarizes these automakers' new models as well as their strategies launched at the event. Let's have a glimpse of them.

JAC Volkswagen

JAC Volkswagen launched its new brand SOL and unveiled the brand's first model, the SOL EX20 at Auto China 2018. Based on the JAC iEV7S, the SOL EX20 will hit the market in the third quarter this year. The new brand is expected to help JAC go upscale and also will bring NEV credits for Volkswagen. The SOL EX20 is an A0-class pure electric SUV, featuring the same size as that of the JAC iEV7S with upgrades in some details only.

Great Wall Motor

Great Wall Motor (GWM) officially unveiled its independent electric vehicle brand, ORA at Auto China 2018, together with two miniature concept models, the ORA R1 and R2. In the future, GWM's subsidiary brands, Great Wall, WEY and ORA will focus on NEV models simultaneously to gain NEV credits.

Based on ME platform, which is an EV-exclusive architectural platform, ORA can integrate world-leading resources in both appearance design and product R&D. By virtue of the ME platform, models under ORA brand can make breakthroughs in space, safety and efficiency.

BYD

BYD launched the latest DiLink intelligent ecological system and e Platform, along with a bunch of new models at Auto China 2018, including the latest concept E-SEED, the Song MAX DM and the Yuan EV 360. Besides, the presale price of the new BYD Tang was also revealed.

Changan

Changan Auto launched the CS75 PHEV and the EADO EV460 at Auto China 2018. The CS75 PHEV, which will hit the market in the third quarter this year, is the automaker's first PHEV SUV model with a range of 880km. To hit the market in the fourth quarter, the EADO EV460, the first model adopting the all-new family design language titled "in Call 3.0", has a range of 405km.

Changan will release all-new models under its three NEV-exclusive platforms successively by 2020, including high-performance coupe, crossover SUV, sedan and miniature cars. By 2025, Changan will launch 33 NEV models. In the next three years, Changan will invest a total of RMB 10 billion in NEV part and build up a technological innovation center to focus on cutting-edge technologies of NEVs. as well as the R&D of NEV intelligent integration technologies.

GAC New Energy

GAC New Energy (GAC NE) launched its new brand slogan dubbed "smarter companion" at Auto China 2018, along with all-new brand IP image and customer-tailored APP. Meanwhile, GAC NE's stand was also highlighted by the new energy concept model, the Enverge, which has a range of 595km and can sprint from 0-100km/h in 4.4 seconds.

BAIC BJEV

BAIC BJEV launched the EC and EX Series models and announced that it will conduct overall strategic cooperation with Singulato Motor in technology development of intelligent vehicles, construction of battery charging and swapping facilities, sharing of dealership network and manufacturing resources. At the same time, Singulato Motor will join the Nation New Energy Vehicle Technology Innovation Center which is initially built by BAIC BJEV. In the future, Singulato Motor will join forces with BAIC BJEV to co-develop the center.

NIO

Positioned as high-end vehicle brand, NIO showcased the EP9 and the EVE concept model, which target high-end and mid- and high-end customers, as well as the seven-seat ES8 and the six-seat ES8. NIO plans to sell the ES8 of 30,000 units in 2018. In the future, it will launch one new model annually, covering SUV, coupe and MPV.

WM Motor

WM Motor revealed four models at Auto China 2018. the EX6 Concept, the EX 5 Pro (Designed by Isdera) and the Isdera Commendatore GT made their world premieres at the event. Tittled "HELLO WORLD", WM Motor showed its ambition of being an emerging internet-based automaker.
