The sluggish performance of the auto sector has weighed on the tire manufacturing activities, according to the latest issue of Traction associated with Automotive Tyre Manufacturers’ Association (ATMA).
The current financial year has seen a drastic drop in passenger car tire production in the first quarter as almost 50% of the production is committed to OEs which has seen significant fall in sales.
T&B tire production on the other hand has kept pace with previous year's production to cater to the replacement demand.
June of 2013 saw a drop of 3% year on year in tire production in India.
