Top 10 Vehicle Models by January Sales

The wholesale of China’s passenger vehicle in January jumped 11.6 percent year on year to 2,420,799 units, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association. That signifies a good start for the auto market in this year.

Out of all models on sale, three models achieved a sales volume of over 50,000 units. With a total delivery of 59,133 vehicles in January, the Haval H6 became the most popular vehicle model again. The model’s monthly sales soared 28.57 percent from a year earlier last month and has exceeded 50,000 units for three consecutive months.

On the list, a total of four vehicle models saw year-on-year sales decrease in January. The Hongguang and the Trumpchi GS4 also showed month-on-month decrease. Last month, sales of the Hongguang dropped 8.31 percent year on year and 13.29 percent month on month to 55,138 units while the Lavida underwent the largest decrease among the top 10 models with a total sales volume of 44,202 units.

Compared with the top 10 model list of the previous month, the January list included five new entrants, the Corolla, the Jetta, the Sagitar, the Trumpchi GS4 and the New Santana. Thanks to its outstanding product competitiveness, the Corolla January sales surged 77.69 percent from a year earlier to 46,735 units.

Even though the Boyue sales soared 50.8 percent year on year to 30,381 units, the model failed to enter into the top 10 model list of last month. The monthly sales of the Boyue has surpassed 30,000 units for four consecutive months.
