CAAM released the latest production and sales data on July 11th showing that the production and sales volume in June reach 2.17m units and 2.17m units respectively, increasing 3.9% and 3.6% month-on-month and growing 5.4% and 4.5% year-on-year. The total production and sales volume reach 13.53m units and 13.35m units respectively in the first half of 2017, increasing 4.6% and 3.8% year-on-year. The growth rate is slowing down, especially on passenger vehicles, while commercial vehicles show an obvious growth.
Apart from SUVs, other passenger vehicles including cars, MPV models and crossovers all show declining production and sales volumes. Alternative energy vehicles show strong growth in June, with production and sales volume growing 43.4% and 33.0% respectively year-on-year. Driven by the strong growth of SUV, Chinese auto brands keep showing good performances in June with the total sales volume reaching 756,300 units, occupying for 41.29% of passenger vehicles’ total sales volume.
