China’s Chery to Produce 60,000 Units of Small Electric SUV Annually
Chery in China launched the project of producing 60,000 units of electric passenger vehicles annually yesterday.
The total investment of this project amounts to 1.56 billion yuan. And the construction will cover two phases. In the first phase, the production of electric vehicles is expected to begin in 2016, and the annual production will achieve 10,000 units. In the second phase, the construction will be finished at the end of 2017. And the annual production capacity will reach 60,000 units.
The first model that will be put into production is a new model of small electric SUV. The products produced on this platform will all utilize advanced technology according to Chery.
According to the development planning of Chery, it will achieve annual sales of 200,000 units of alternative energy vehicles in 2020, becoming the industry leader. And the construction of this project will move the development of Chery to a new stage, laying a firm foundation for achieving the goal in 2020.
The small electric SUV is expected to be brought to market in the second half of 2016.
