B-Class Vehicles in October: Magotan to top sales of the whole year and Sonata Falling off a Cliff

Sales of joint-ventured B-class vehicles in October have increased. After sales of six vehicles broke ten thousand last month, five of them remained strong this month with Magotan, Passat and Accord nearly reaching twenty thousand-units sales volume monthly.

There are three tips for sales volume of October: First, accumulative total sales of Magotan narrowed its gap with Passat and was expected to win the sales champion of this year; secondly, after months of disappointing, three vehicles of SAIC-GM are catching up and sales of Lacrosse even broke ten thousand; and thirdly, sales of Mondeo experienced ups and downs, almost being cut in twice this month after reaching ten thousand unit sales volume last month, while Sonata keep going low with sales falling about 70%.

Magotan VS. Passat: combat for sales champion

Sales of Magotan and Passat keep pace with each other in October. Magotan sold 19980 units last month and gained sales champion for the single month while Passat sold 18627 units with a gap of smaller than 4000 units with Magotan. The outcome will come out by the end of the year.

The overall sales of Accord and MISTRA were 20-30 thousand lower than Magotan and Passat, which showed the two cars are unable to top the sales this year and Accord was more likely to be No.3 considering the price range and market positioning of MISTRA.

Three vehicles of SAIC-GM are catching up after months of disappointing sales. Lacrosse sold 10008 units this month, 32.3% up from the same period of last year. Malibu and Regal also had a good performance with Malibu reached a monthly sales volume of 9798 units, 46.7% increased year on year.

Among the top three of Japanese cars, Camry and Teana had bad sales performance. Sales of Camry this month was 7871 units while that of January to October was 83692 units, declined 21.4% year on year. Insiders from Dongfeng Honda stressed that, SUVs were favored by the market during recently two years and shocked medium-sized vehicles greatly; and market for medium-sized vehicles is shrinking.

Sales of Magotan ups and downs while that of Sonata continues to fall

Sales of Magotan experienced ups and downs with 4275 units sold in October, almost 60% down from the same period of last year, and 78975 units sold from January to October, 14.9% decreased year on year.

The entire sales of Sonata reached 30036 units during the past ten months, a 42.6% of year-on-year decrease. Its sales of October was down to 1941 units. Beijing Hyundai was trapped with a sale of 880 thousand units in the past ten months and an expected same sales level of the whole year with last year.
