Top passenger automobile manufacturing enterprises in November

The Chinese passenger automotive industry’s recovery continued into November. According to statistics from Gasgoo.com (Chinese), passenger sales grew 24.1% year-on-year during the month, reaching a total of 2.11 million units.

Shanghai GM led the passenger automobile sales charts in November, followed by Shanghai VW, FAW-VW, SAIC-GM-Wuling, Dongfeng Nissan, Beijing Hyundai, Changan Ford, Changan Automobile, Great Wall Motor and Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën. All of these manufacturers posted strong sales growth rates in the double digits, with six of them managing to sell over 10,000 units over the course of the month.

November’s leader in the sales charts, Shanghai GM, sold a total of 181,455 passenger automobiles, 19.8% higher than the amount it sold the previous November. The joint venture has sold 1.51 million vehicles in the country from January to November. November marks the third consecutive month in a row that the JV has placed first in the monthly sales charts.

While VW has been the focus of global media for its recent emissions scandal, sales of VW branded products within China still remain strong. Shanghai VW and FAW-VW have posted respectably high sales growth rates in November, with the former’s sales jumping a full 49.9%. Shanghai VW and FAW-VW have sold 177,434 vehicles and 168,679 vehicles in the country, respectively. Shanghai VW has sold more vehicles than other manufacturer since the beginning of the year, with a total of 164.1 million automobiles solve from January to November. With its 10,000 plus lead on its nearest competitor, Shanghai GM, Shanghai VW looks set to become this year’s top seller of passenger automobiles in China.

SAIC-GM-Wuling, Dongfeng Nissan and Beijing Hyundai have also all broken the 10,000 sales mark, with respective sales volumes of 127,807 vehicles, 114,175 vehicles and 110,094 vehicles.

Two domestic own brand automotive enterprises, Changan Automobile and Great Wall Motor, managed to break into the top ten sales chart this month, with each of them posting year-on-year sales growth rates of over 20%. Changan sold 82,042 vehicles in November, up 24.0% from last year, while Great Wall sold 80,422 vehicles over the course of the month, up 22.2% from a year ago. Furthermore, Changan has managed to sell 870,000 vehicles since January, exceeding its 750,000 sales target for the year.

Changan Ford and Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën rounded out the sales charts with sales of 89,920 vehicles and 70,637 vehicles, respectively.
