China auto output, sales retain double-digit growth in Jan-Aug

Sales and output of China-made automobiles remained double-digit year-on-year growth in the first eight months of this year, China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) said Tuesday.

In the first eight months of 2013, auto sales in China reached 13.95 million units, up 11.81 percent year on year, while the output amounted to 14.01 million units, a rise of 12.36 percent from a year ago.

In August, Chinese automakers sold 1.65 million units to dealers, up 10.28 percent from August of 2012, while auto output by domestic manufacturers jumped 11.70 percent year on year to reach 1.677 million units.
