Profile of China's auto sales & production in July 2012

China’s auto sales amounted to 1,379,400 units in July 2012, year-on-year up 8.16 percent compared to the same period of 2011, according to statistics released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).

But auto sales dropped 12.56 percent in July compared to last month, statistics showed.

Motor vehicle output totaled 1,437,100 million units in June, slightly down 6.15 percent compared to the last month, but climbing 10.03 percent year on year, according to CAAM.

-- Passenger vehicles

A total of 1.12 million sedans, multi-purpose vehicles (MPV), sports-utility vehicles (SUV) and crossovers were sold inChinain July, down 12.77 percent from a year earlier and growing 10.71 percent from the preceding month.

Output in the same month fell 5.88 percent month on month but gained 12.79 percent year on year to 1.18 million units.

-- Commercial vehicles

China’s output and sales of commercial vehicles continued the downward trend in June.

The monthly commercial vehicle sales in June reached 293,300 units, down 9.20 percent month on month and 10.22 percent year on year. The output in the month fell 9.08 percent month on month and 3.03 percent year on year to 272,500 units.
